Joseph and Colette Discuss Tam Nakano vs. Giulia
Joseph and Colette come to terms with a match that might just elevate a few of Hunter Month's duds. But also ... GAEA Month!
Not to spoil the coming discussion or anything, but both Joseph and I found this match to be pretty damn bad. He felt vindicated in his hot take, I had a dark night of the soul, and now we are here to discuss just how low our opinion of Tam/Giulia is. I am so open to the possibility of enjoying their dynamic that I've decided to take on their famous hair vs. hair match for paid subscribers. I am open to a lot of things, like enjoying another Shawn/Taker match, or getting what everybody else saw in Ospreay/Danielson. I am totally not dreading the coming week or so of bonus features here on BIG EGG!
I am also decidedly not dreading what's next for Joseph and I, as we're leaving bad joshi squarely in the rearview and spending a month on GAEA.
I am a "90s Joshi saved my life" type of person, but admittedly my scope is pretty narrow (AJW! Uh, FMW's women's division!), so I am tremendously excited to watch four matches that are entirely new to me, all of which feature wrestlers I consider to be among the greatest of all time. You wouldn't know it because YouTube's English algorithm fronts people saying the same "omg Japanese dojo life is so hard" stuff about the GAEA Girls documentary (which I'll be writing about this month, for fun!), but GAEA's YouTube channel is a feast. Can't wait!

When will we get more joshi on the EGG they said? Bring back joshi on the EGG, we clamored! And what did we get? That's right, baby, a heatless, modern Bushiroad epic between overrated NXT wrestler Giulia against the empress of the Tam Road. God I hate this match, it's so fucking boring and I only ever hesitated to talk about it before lest it give off the false impression that I hate women's wrestling as a whole (something we will SOUNDLY disprove next month by the way, wink wink). Colette, have you forgiven me for making you Walk the Tam Road?

I will … eventually. Right now, I’m still a little disoriented. But this was Hot Takes Month, and coming down on Giulia whose hype was impossible to avoid before rumors that she’d be signing to WWE or AEW got going, certainly qualifies. I’d heard less about Tam Nakano, likely because she wasn’t rumored for an extended period of time to be signing to The Best Women’s Division in Wrestling, but … her matches can’t all be like this, can they?
